This video documents several journeys. First, one by snow machine to the
billboard sculpture installed on the sea ice. Second, my return by air
to Tuktoyaktuk in April 2011 to attempt to find out what happened to the
sculpture after the melt in the previous year. Third, a boat trip on
the Beaufort Sea with Emmanuel Adam of Tuktoyaktuk — my lead guide for
the installation of the billboard — to the same site where the sign was
left. Fourth, a flight with Emmanuel along the coast to the east and
west of the installation site to attempt to find the wreckage of the sculpture, in case it had run aground.
According to a scientist who studies the currents and movements of ice in the Beaufort Sea, the sign is likely now thousands of miles to the west, somewhere north of Russia.
