In the 19th century, British explorers continued to search for a North West Passage, seeking a shorter route to their Eastern empire — a byproduct of which was their discovery and subsequent colonization of North America. To finance and popularize expeditions, explorers such as William Edward Perry published accounts of their journeys. This is a contemporary version — that I give away at cost.
The work disseminates through the drifting of the original sculpture and through the images and stories of it, as portrayed in this book. The hope is that these two forms of dissemination will meet, and the wreck of the sign will be found.
